Operation Ghazab lil-Haq: Pakistan Strikes Afghan Taliban Positions

Pakistan has launched a military operation called Operation Ghazab lil-Haq after what officials described as unprovoked firing from the Afghan border. According to security sources, the Pakistan Air Force carried out airstrikes on Taliban military targets in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia. The Afghan Taliban government has confirmed that the strikes took place.

Pakistan says the operation targeted terrorist camps and military installations, not civilian areas. Officials claim that around 297 Afghan Taliban fighters were killed, more than 450 were injured, and 89 posts were destroyed. Pakistan also reported that 12 Pakistani soldiers were martyred during the clashes.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the Afghan Taliban must choose between supporting terrorist groups or maintaining relations with Pakistan.

Government officials say the operation will continue until security objectives are achieved. Several Afghan checkposts along the border have been destroyed, and Pakistani forces remain on high alert.

International leaders have called for calm. The United Nations has urged an immediate ceasefire, while countries including China and the UK have asked both sides to reduce tensions.

Pakistan’s political leadership, including the President, Prime Minister, and opposition leaders, has expressed support for the armed forces.

Due to security concerns, authorities in several provinces have banned drone flying, and investigations are ongoing after a quadcopter attack injured worshippers in Bannu.
